1993, Baia Mare. Visual artist who lives and works in her hometown. She studied Cinematography, Photography and Media at the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, a background that continues to inform her sensitivity to image-making, framing and narrative.
Her artistic practice is rooted in stitching, a technique she first encountered in childhood and later rediscovered in adulthood as a means of expression. Through this medium, Ingrid engages in a process of reduction and reconstruction, exploring the pre-existing image of creation and drawing upon layers of collective memory.
Her works function as experiments in minimal intervention. Using untreated, raw canvas as the primary support, she allows the material itself to dictate both chromatic range and composition. The limited palette emerges naturally from the fabric, while the imagery is constructed through a slow, manual process of needle and thread, deliberately avoiding mechanized tools such as sewing machines. This approach lends the works a direct, almost naïve quality.
Rather than unfolding as seamless or organic compositions, her images appear constrained, shaped by the conditions of their making. They emerge with a stark and unembellished presence – at times crude, simplified, and disarmingly honest. In this way, Ingrid’s work foregrounds a distinctly human dimension, where vulnerability, memory, and materiality converge in a raw and unidealized visual language.
